my son was given two old machines.
I JUST wanted something to test old drives. and later to check out a lot of pc/66/100/133 simms.. this seemed to work out.
it is a chanintech 6eas2. similar to many other slot 1 intel 440lx chipset pc;'s It is a 233 slot one and I tried several othwer slot 1 cpu's but they all reported as 233. it is award bios pg4.51 with a choice to select 233 to333. and bus speeds under sder defined 60-83.
but it chugs along at bonly 233., uinlikely there are MB jum, pers as it has the soft menu.
the 6.4g HD was making noises and I neglkected to ghost it and it died.
so drivers for the hdmi agp video card and the linksys nic were lost.
I went to plan B. and kjept trying cards until I had ones that worked.
there are two built in usb ports near the kb and mouse connector
win 98 does not sere them.
I have a couple of dos ( win98) boot floppies with drivers that see the usb 4g card. but I cannot get it toi let 09 see the usb ports ( I did noty try or know before the hd crash)
I increaded the ram from 1 32 ( 64) to 384 ( max ram)
but the problem with thye unseen usb ports exists.

I have tried several drivers. no luck only the usb boot floppy works.
seems this w98 install is limited as any web search crashes.
Likely I will later try a different slkot 1 mb

the big puizzle is why I cannot upgrade the cpus and why it persists in being a 233.
I tried a p3 which caused many beepsw and it was dark but later woirked when I replaced the cpu with a p2

Your board (6lts???) only works with 66 FSB P2's. Later P2's were 100 FSB and P3 slot ones were 133 FSB.

Don't think you can test 100/133 speed SDRAM on that board since they will only work at 66mhz and most likely higher density DIMMs will not work at all (anything above 256MB).

this chaintech 6eas2 has bus speeds of 60-83
it came with a p2 which were 66 bus speed
it will not work with later p2 or p3 slot 1 cpu.
but according to the manual- I giot a close manual that is chaintech and
CPU TypeùùIntel Pentium II, 233 MHz (3.5 x 66)
CPU Aliasùù: Deschutes, A80523
Core Voltage 2.0 V
I/O Voltageù: 3.3 V

--------------------------------------
this is the report from AIDA
I seem to have misspoken on the cpu supportthe one 300 and the other cpu's did not work at the listed speed.
I asked my son with better eyes to read what it said on the moduleand tested all the box of slot 1 cpu's not the 350 and 400 which were faster bus or lower vboltage.
so far with dimm_id I can find the speed and capacity of 66/100/133 simms. there are two which give capacity but not speed.
thjey may be ancient chips and m,ay be tested in an olderr p133 socket 7 mb.
the usb problem persists.
I can copy filers from a 4f sd drive to the hard drive
but I must use a boot floppy that activates the built-in usb ports.
ity seems that most of not all of the related MB have this feature withthe usb ports located next to the kb and ps2 mouise ports.

I was unable to obtain a copy of the chipset driver.
I searched on sites for other very close mb.
at that time the intel and via chipsets were used.
and it is understood that MB manufacturers used information from intel and via to design their mb.
so derspite brand name many mb with the same chipset my use the same drivers.,
possibly if oen had additional features such as a lan sound or graphics-- it could be a different brand and require a different driver.
but this oen uses a video card a lan card and a sound card.
and the basic mb is prettyu standard.
