After a lot of trial and error I got the 3c509 card working in DSL, after many tries with GRUB load error 15, but now it is on a CF/IDE harddrive and work fine Very Happy

Good job! My first ever computer (well actually my parent's computer) was powered by a 486-DX4 with 100 MHz. I wonder if that was the fastest ever 486? As far as I recall it was an AMD 486 as Intel did not offer a DX4-100? But my memory is weak on that subject. All I remember is that I got a computer game (Need For Speed II SE) one Christmas Eve which stated a Pentium with 90 MHz as minimum requirement and it did not run on the DX4-100 and I was really upset (100 is more than 90 - why won't it run?). Little did I know back then that a Pentium was one generation newer than the 486.

Actually Intel did offer a DX4-100:

...and AMD's "true-486" was up to 120MHz (the 5x86 was still technically considered a 486 class machine and maxed out at 160Mhz ):
