I have been trying to find information about this "operating system". You see, it's "similar to Windows XP", but it runs on a 386. I keep running into this advertising when I'm looking around for stuff on 386 systems. There is basically no information available on it, and the "Maniasoft" website is rather useless. To me it looks like a big scam, but perhaps I am mistaken. |

DO NOT PAY FOR WINDES! I bought Windes ME under the premise that it was supposedly compatible with windows 98. It claims it will run on a 286 (which I don't doubt) but it is very very very very slow even on a fast machine, maybe its quicker on a 286. Anyway it supposed to use an existing windows install to run windows proggies (I think, never worked for me, it only seemed to run the built in solitaire, word processor but the web browser was broken) It does take very little disk space and it has a few craptaskic windows looking albeit less functional applications.
My personal oppinion is that its about as functional as windows RG except not as amusing.
If I find it festering on my drive still I think I will post it for free on winworld or something of that nature so everyone can have a laugh at its uselessness.
Cheers

If you really want a "reasonably snappy" GUI for a 286/386, then I'd suggest an older version of GeoWorks (i.e. v2.1) |
