I am posting it here as i am " preforming this" on a newer pc
dos 6.22. testing drives and i keep seeing the drvspace.bin and deleting it from boot disks. finally I decided to actually try to MAKE a comppressed hard drive. YES I know it's a klugyt thing as disk manager was, different thing but both an accident waiting to happen.
Information seems to be sorely lacking, instructions are vague, but after all it is an experiment and a learning process.

old tech seems to be getting lost and forgotten.
no I will NOT do this as a setrios thing.

I then took another a 635 meg and installed dos 6.22
and dblspaced it thought it would SEE the 700 meg, no luck
I then ran dblspace.exe and MOUNTED the 700 drive I was unable to access.

NO I REALL did not DO that, this is a keyboard procedure.
I seemed NOT to be able to Unmount the orig 700 meg drive and restiore it to a normal drive.
any thoughts
remember this is JUST anb experiment

You should be able to download the complete DRDOS 7.03 which came with its own compression setup here:

ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/OpenDOS/DR-DOS.703/images/

The help function should be usefull.

after I screwed up the 700meg, i used the 3- 6.22 dos diske to set up a 635 as a compressed drvspace disk, I connected the 700m as D and "mounted" the drive .
I made a bootdisk with "necessary files" and
attempts to access the compressed drive

after I mounted the 700m, connected a D, I copied everything from the 700m and fdisk formatted it as a conventional drive.

I was never able to convert the drive back to a regular drive. using the drvspace options,
thank you for the dr dos link, I have an older copy of that OS
