I am wondering about extending wi fi.
our pastor has wifi / high speed in his basement, his children are home schooled.
the church is at a higher elevation 300 feet distance, the peak of his house roof is on a level with his office wall, the outside wall of the church. , so it is a pretty much straigh horizontal " shot" about 300 feet. He can tale his laprop to the house most anywehre and it connects.
BUT he has 10 kids and it is usually pandemonium.

the isp seems to have no problem with wi-fi , but a cable in the church is considered a " commercial instal" and is expensive.
for example he can go the local macdonalds , but how many hamburgers can he eat? there are many wi-fi hotspots adverised by the isp. so he is not breaking any rules.
just that his doesn't reach up the hill.

Bigger antennas are the easiest and maybe cheapest way to go.

You could also set up a directional antenna, where you point the signal towards the AP. I've heard of someone using a USB WiFi stick and a strainer (parabolic dish) to make a cheap directional antenna.
