well, problem solved, installed ie 5.01 16bit, installer claimed i couldn't but with some tweaks of the ie5setup.ini, i got it to install and seems stable. i tried a stand alone versoion of ie4 but it lacked the address bar cause win98ite removed ie 5. so its all good now, opera 8.5 and ie 5 16bit

Interesting, I've often wondered if I could dump IE 5 16 bit for the dialer onto Windows 98 micro.
