Began cleaning out the basement mess this past weekend. Determined that anything less than a 486/66 (about 2/3 of it) has to go (maybe keep a couple of 386's for posterity's sake). First load to the recyclers netted $83.60, which is likely about twice what I paid for it...

Good luck, a thorough cleaning is a lot of work but worth it.

I have made tentative promises
but I have several layers of things to remove before I can even SEE some of these old partsa and pc's.
every tuesday garbage day, I have a bag filled with stuff that I cannot take to the local recycling. I add it to the kitchen garbage.
maybe in a few months I can see the real junk. I know those things are there somewhere. I just have to keep at it. and not miss a week. we can burn things here, but the new barrell is not set up yet.

we were getting many pc's from a man at a recycling center. but that source has dried up.
this filled the room with pc cases. many went to recycling for cash. too old to be used. We are still giving local people set up pc's.

Yeah, me too. For about 10 years now. Given what scrap and non-ferrous metals are bringing right now, it's likely now or never. Can't afford to bury myself in this cr*p...

Your lucky, circuit board scrap down south sells for some cash, up here they still want to try to charge you to take it, only one place takes it for free (so nice of them)

Only thing you get paid for up here is the metal case and you need to get everything out of it first before they will pay a little for it.

$2.50 a pound for circuit scrap if you go south far enough Sad
