my son found a 160gb maxtor in a dvd tv box.
not the same drive mentioned before.
when he attempted to fdisk . format it is seemed STUCK on 131 g.
apparently either the dve formatting or hardware only could see 131 g.
after several attempts to make it into a 160gm and several failures.
I used disk mamager and it warned me all daya would be destroyed and there would be only one 160gb partition.
FINE
but I know there are some offities about a disk manager format esp a 160gb fat 32.so I Noticed that a maxtor llf did not work.
I fdidkerd it again and when I hooked it up to a working w 2000 system it said the drive was unformatted and offered to format it ( very slowly)
finally it worked.,
the drive was a specific av type drive but still an eide./
took me a while to do this. |

Likely you will find that once the disk is nearly full it will crash. |

after having it "rubber band" back to
131 gb, generic disk manager formatted it to 160.
however it is still a but flakey when he copies files to it. and attempts to defrag it.
he thinks the formatting of the dvd drive was totally non standard
I will try the maxtor "llf" program again.
and also ask and see if the mfgr has any thoughts. |
