I founda 486 board and wanted to test it.
I also found a zip drive and a wd800 ( 80mb)
first iomega acted stupid and wanted me to jump thu hoops or pay #25.00 to ask the hds cyl of the drivbe. seems is may not be necessary.
and a l o n g search foind just about any other wd drive but not the wd800 80m
My so called vast collection of information and the backupos were no help
I will say the wd site is very pretty
but also pretty useless as far as oid parts are concerned.
LEGACy to them means 320 GB not MB
My hd list dates from 1993-94
and I think i got lazy after bios' had auto detect. and type 47
anyomne have a newer list ? or was it not ever published.
I will kick my video to handicaped mode and see if I can read that o so pretty site.
it is ugly
buy eliminates the weak gray colors. |

oh yes now my old mind creaks into operation
I now recall " the blue planet" as well - hard drives
I have some off-balls made as OEM models
quantum maxtore etc
that only will respond to actual detection on a pc.
numbers are NOT QUITE the same |

Blue Planet is now long gone (finding a backup on the net was unsuccessful). In fact, most of the links from my bookmarks of older drives are now long dead. It may benefit you, Walter, to have a machine solely to autodetect drives, and get the info from what the BIOS detects. Write that info on the drives with a Sharpie so if you ever need it again, it'll be there... |

we have other MB and a saved working system with a PI and 128k ( max) ram.
so it is possible to do that.
I just was surprised when I found my info stopped way back than. |
