I'll bet...
Even a single install of RH5.0 bummed me out for a week...
(and never did get it working right )
Guess I've got too much DOS/Window$ running in my veins... |

Maybe it would be a good idea to read the installation manual that comes with your Linux distro CD.
It should reside somewhere in the directory "/doc". |

About 5 times. And it's a paperback manual as well.
If nothing else, I'm getting some experience at work installing SCO 5 on machines that other facilities have sent in. Must have installed it (successfully) 6 times this week...
Maybe some luck on the next try at home (Mandrake 6) |

Use Gentoo! The installation instructions may look a little daunting at first since you have to do so many things manually, but it's not too bad once you're used to it.
And despite what some people may say, you don't have to build everything from source. There are prebuilt packages available for common architectures. Even if you use prebuilt packages most of the time, you will appreciate the benefits of Gentoo's portage and build system over a binary-only distro such as Mandrake when you do need to build something from source. |
