before the big crash ( logical) not mechanical.
my wofe had office 2000 installed
when she re-installed we had a office 2000 home edition
and it installed and worked, but some features were not present.
when we attempted to install the premium/ pro version over it the cd key failes. I looked for other keys, whick all failed.
later I tried again with a system thjat never had office installed.
the key worked! but when i immediately tried that key on my wife's system it was rejected. hmm puzzling. the lesser version was still installed on that system. |

Aparently it's looking for something specific... Sometimes you get into upgrade/full version conflicts which can be solved by doing things such as renaming win.com to something else and then installing Windows 9x.
In your case, you may have to uninstall the first version of office then install the one you want. |
