I have a lot of old drives to format
I wrote a ff.bat that says format c: /s /u
but i still have to answer Y to proceed
how can I skip this and let the bat provide the "y"
it's been so long i have forgotten most of what I ever knew about batch files. |

Could you do "format c: /s /u < y.txt", where 'y.txt' just contains a y? Not tried it mind.... |

while i was waiting for an answer, I started on the 11 scsi cd's
after trying several bootdisks ( few have scsi drivers)
I fould one thet gave a " measure of" sucess, but it halted, giving a message that the driver used too much memory. aaaarrrrggghh |

format c: /autotest works fine
starts the formatting with no problems
the first drive had errors and the wdfmt and dlgdiags showed errors. wasn't able
to " fix" the drive as the errors seemed to be quite hard errors.
anybody need some smaller drives?
I actually have about hundred pounds of the darn things |

the 8 bit controller is a big issue as mfm / rll drives for xt's are becoming rare ( or too sick and old to work)
I have a seagate st-01 from tee fred on OCH but, so far have not gotten it working'
abd just got a 2nd tms 850, with no bios
I plan to try later. |

Yes, I'm in Germany again. But I will return to the US ( to Chicago in particular ) for a few days from June 2nd to june 4th, 2006.
However, I have pretty much stopped collecting vintage computer parts at the moment, because right now I neither have the time nor the money to continue doing it.
But I will start again once I'm finished with school and have a job.
I only have ONE spare 5.25" drive because I sold all the others for next to nothing. |

At least you could have sold them to me
Are you for from the Dutch border? Because I live just across it, near Aachen. |

I'm from Southern Germany, Bavaria! I live about 30 miles ( 45 kilometers ) south of Munich.
I've never been to the Netherlands. |
